A real Blog entry: The Move
Strange to be sitting at the computer pouring out feelings and thoughts but now I am sitting in a half empty house- no TV - they transferred the cable service today – a day earlier than then requested.
But at least I still have internet - have music blaring from NPR -REM from SXSW 2008.
No curtains on my windows - neighbors probably cheering that I am leaving. My assistant Chaiwat told me today they were going to throw a block party when I leave.
Ok, so I am a mean 'ole curmudgeon. But you would get pissed off as well if people park in front of your driveway and you can't get out - workers from the house next door using a vacant area in front of your house to urinate in - not once but five times - that is after complaining to neighbors. And the list goes on and on.
Been living in this house for two and a half years now - but place just has bad "juju". Two of my rare breed Thai Ridgeback dogs died - still don't know why - I think the neighbors poisoned them.
Old house has always had bad "Feng Shui" - corners jut out, partions in room block flow of air - but had to move and this place was OK back then.
Today, started to construct the new house – coming along but surprising how much shit I have. What was a BIG house now looks very small.
(some very weird German music coming from on-line radio now)
Took me an hour and a half working with the maid just to put my books up on two and a half bookshelves – where did all these books and magazines come from? Just looking at them, lots of books on making movies; film festivals; film location destinations around the world; studies from UNESCO, UNDB,ADB; manuals on how to write speeches, signed books by notable people I have met; the list goes on.
Looking at my library, someone would think I was pretty smart. I'm not!
Tomorrow, the big move takes place. Lucky so far, Chaiwat and maid moved most of the smaller things. Tomorrow comes a truck with five men.
Why five men you ask? The refrigerator and couch are not big. NO they are not. But on my second floor I have a table and five chairs made out of, no shit, tree stumps.
They weigh a ton (almost literally).
Remember, this is Thailand (did I forget to mention that -sorry, yeah almost 15 years now). No ropes and pulleys or dollies here. Just raw muscle.
Tomorrow also phone and internet go down in old house and hopefully up in new one.
Transfer of numbers should take place with ease. Houses are not far from one another – phone numbers will stay the same but, again, this is Thailand – anything can happen.
Tomorrow also comes the move for my buddy Cyclo.
I don’t think that is going to be easy. He is not gong to want to get into the car. I am going to have to muzzle him and pick him up – with Chaiwat’s help - dog must weigh about 60 lbs – and take him to the new house.
He will be freaked out for sure.
Worse, at the new house there are two dogs left from the last owner that were kind of kicked out into the street. Common occurrence by fucking Thai people. Anyway, I don’t want to keep them – they probably have worms and they are kind of mangy. But they keep coming back into my yard. Cyclo is not going to like that.
I feel sorry for the dogs having to live in the street. Don’t know what to do. New landlord said they would take care of it but…I am still waiting.
(now Chinese woman Ma Xiaohui is keeping me company on NPR, playing the erhu a traditional Chinese instrument)
Another sad thing – I have no food to eat. Trying to use up what I have and all that is left herein the old house is a half loaf of bread and couple of pieces of processed cheese and mustard (ketchup as well, but cheese & ketchup??)
Can not even call out for food because money is at new house and Chaiwat has the car.
Hmm, there is some dog kibble………………..
Poor me!
Well, guess I’ll sign off now and check out some porn on the web.
More movie postings next week when I am all moved in.
Ciao

Cyclo is a rare breed Thai ridgeback but, I had the poor guy neutered. He is about 7 years old now. Takes almost the same vitamins and blood pressure medicine as I do (prescribed by a vet of course).
